“Unreliable Progress” Exhibition

Elements of this Project:
  • Promotional Posters For Exhibition
  • Exhibition Guide
  • Promotional Posters for Workshops
“Unreliable Progress” ran from Tuesday the 13th to Saturday the 17th of September. The exhibition featured the work of over 30 artists at The Shoe Factory Social Club. Myself, Robyn Powell and Rosalyn McLean created, managed and designed the entire exhibition, executing all elements of the project cycle including outreach, creating promotional material, hosting a private view to over 200 people, scheduling invigilation throughout the week, running a pop-up shop, running workshops and designing the exhibition guide.

“Unreliable Progress revolved around the central idea that carving yourself out a career in the arts, by nature, is fantastically unreliable. Despite the dramatic highs and lows of the complex windings of what each individual deems “progress” within the arts, beautiful work gets made. With this exhibition we aim to put a spotlight on all of the brilliantly different artists that live and work in Norwich, each one of them with their own complex relationship to art. Over 30 artist have worked featured in the exhibition and no two of them, or their work, is the same.”

Throughout the week, the exhibition featured
  • Two Floors of work from over 32 Artists from a range of Disciplines
  • A Private View attended by over 200 members of the public
  • An Outreach strategy inviting local art collectives, galleries, shop owners and institutions to the exhibition
  • A Pop-up Shop featuring work from exhibited artists (that generated over £1,700 over the duration of the exhibition)
  • A Series of 3 Workshops ran by different Artists
  • A donation box raising money for The Norwich Soup Movement that raised over £150

“Illustrate A Playing Card” Workshop
I created, ran and designed the promotion for the workshop entitled “Illustrate A Playing Card” that asked members of the public to illustrate their own card from a worksheet of a blank playing card in any way they would like. I hope to continue to run this workshop until each of the 52 cards in a deck of cards has been illustrated, and then turn these worksheets into a real deck of cards which will then be printed and sold with all profits going towards The Norwich Soup Kitchen. “Cards built by Norwichers to feed Norwichers"
